People: How does this business benefit its workers, its community, and other groups?

Each year I donate many hours of work to nonprofit causes. Those causes have included The Ocean Conservancy, FINCA International, Vietnam Veterans Assistance Fund, and Montgomery County Public Schools, among others.

Planet: How does this business benefit the environment or seek to operate sustainably?

Here’s how I try to minimize resource use and carbon emissions.

• I telecommute every day.
• When I do attend meetings, I take Metro or drive a hybrid.
• My home office uses passive solar, cfls, and an EnergyStar computer.
• I purchase recycled paper products for office use, and I typically print on both sides. I recycle all office waste paper, print cartridges, and electronic equipment.
• I submit electronic estimates and invoices, instead of paper ones.
